In Loving Memory

Fellow Marines,

I received this e from Chuck Tidwell informing me that James Spurrier passed away this past Feb.
James was in Korea when I arrived and was in the machine gun section. James was really cared for by all of us - He always had a smile on his face and truly saw the 'bright' side of any situation. He & his wife came to our reunion in DC and it was great to be with him.
James isn't the first nor will he be the last but it always hurts to lose a brother.

E 2 7 Marine Sgt. Tony Yaquinto - has gone ahead to join other Easy Co Marines in Heaven. Tony was a great Marine and the best friend anybody could ever have. He will be missed by all.

One of the finest is no longer with us, except in spirit.
Mac, "Doc" McCoy has joined all his buddies who went before him, to Heaven.
Doc and Louisa attended several of our Easy Co reunions and I don't believe anyone had as much fun as he did. He really enjoyed being together with his buddies.
I have attached a Pic of Doc and another Easy Co Marine, Dick Lander who was waiting for Mac to arrive to ease his transition and to make him welcome.
Our prayers go up for Louisa as she adjusts to life without her beloved Doc.

The world was definitely a better place because of Doc's life and he was instrumental in being directly responsible for saving several Marines lives while in Korea - maybe yours? I know he took care of me after I was wounded on a 'search and destroy combat mission' on an enemy-held outpost on July 4th and morning of July 5th, 1952.

Anybody who ever knew "Doc" loved him. Semper Fidelis,

Troy Watson

ATTENTION: ALL MARINES, MARINE CORPS LEAGUES, VFW, ETC. AND OUR FRIENDS & RELATIVES

I know that some of you who will receive this request- were not Marines - I further know that many of you know nada about Sgt Larry Hutchins and how he got railroaded into 11 years in Leavenworth and even more of you are not aware of the financial hardships that his Mother and Father are facing - They put every dime they could get there hands on into the defense of their son - as all of us would have had the identical situation been ours to deal with.

In a nutshell; Sgt Hutchins was sentenced to 11 years in Leavenworth prison for DOING HIS DUTY as a Marine leading a combat patrol in Iraq.  Because of a lying congressman and a non-combat loaded court of officers - he was the only one to get sentenced - Seven others were released with time-served.

Sgt. Hutchins has a young wife and daughter, plus a very courageous Mother and father and grandfather; both of which were United States Marines.

His parents nearly had their home paid off but chose to re-finance in order to pay attorneys to defend their son.  Dad also cashed in his entire retirement 401K and invested that in his sons defense.  Then Dad had an accident, was hurt and was laid off from work - - - ie., they are in a heckuva predicament and deserve all the financial help they can get - - Capt. Don Greenlaw, Boyce Clark, myself and a couple more friends of the family are starting a drive to get ANYBODY who can help financially to give $5, $10 or $20 or much as you can afford - on a monthly basis.  We will monitor their situation and keep all donors informed.  Please let me know "how much" you are willing to donate monthly.  NO ONE BUT ME WILL receive any other information about who is donating nor the individual monthly amount. They will only get the gross amount, which we need to know so we can make sure that enough is getting into their hands to keep their head above water.  And of course, you are not in any way obligated to help in any amount nor is it our intention to put any kind of guilt trip on anybody.

There is a possibility that Sgt. Hutchins MAY get paroled early next year and that would be a blessing - which will not correct the initial wrongdoing by the courts but maybe sometime in the future - that injustice can be dealt with.

Here is an address where you can send funds directly to:

Kathi & Larry Hutchins

Manomet, Mass. 02345

From Boyce Clark:

Regarding former Sgt. (now private) Larry Hutchins, his family is in a world of hurt and needs financial support. Individuals and groups, such as the WA Evergreen Chapter have come through with contributions, but these funds are short term. What we are attempting to do now is come up with a plan whereby individuals (or groups) will make a commitment of say, $5..$10..$25...or more on a monthly basis. Who knows, but if we can muster up 200 people willing to donate $10.00 each month the family could realize 2K each month. The 200 figure may or may not be realistic but at least it gives us a goal to shoot for. This plan is also going to be brought up at at our 17-21 May E-2-7 Reunion in Las Vegas. As Marines it is a fact that "we leave no one behind". What better way to express this than to support Larry at this critical point in his life, and in turn assist the family, including his wife, young daughter, and his parents, Larry & Kathi.
