Day is done, Gone the sun,
From the lakes, From the hills,
From the sky, All is well.
Safely rest. God is high

Story Behind Taps

IF ANYBODY WANTS TO ADD A PERSONAL

TRIBUTE TO ANY OF OUR DECEASED ECHO CO MARINES,

PLEASE EMAIL WHAT YOU WANT TO SAY TO TROY.(e27gunner@gmail.com)

They shall not grow old;

As we that remain grow old.

Age shall not weary them;

Nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun;

And in the morning;

We will remember them.

With great sadness, I have to report the death of one of our E 2 7 brothers. Henry (Hank) Brinlee passed away Wednesday 15 August, 2007. Two months ago, he attended our reunion in DC. Hank was one helluva great guy and I think he made every reunion we had. He was a machine gunner in Korea and probably left not too long after I got there. I'll deeply miss the little guy but he was one damned big Marine. When I get more info, I'll send it.    Semper Fi, Troy

MATTHEWS, Merlin "Matt", Captain

Matt" was Company CO.. WIA in March & June '51

OISTAD, JOE

DECEASED MONDAY, 7 FEB., 2005.  JOE WAS A CORPSMAN WITH EASY CO DURING THE VEGAS-CARSON CAMPAIGNS AND DOZENS OF RECON/COMBAT PATROLS IN 53.  From:  HMCS Bill Sanders, USN/Ret. 12 Feb. 2005-----It's strange how things and names gets pushed aside as time moves on.  I remember the day that Joe came up to Easy Co.  We were on hill 229 and some of the corpsmen were being rotated back to Bn Aid Station.  I didn't have enough seniority to go back so I was promoted to senior corpsman and moved up to the Company CP area.  Joe came up with another Corpsman whose name was Macasland (I think).  Seems that I remember Joe going to the 3rd plt (machine guns) and Macasland to the 2nd plt.  May be wrong about the plt assignments, but I distinctly remember Joe. After Vegas and Carson, Joe and I both went back to Bn Aid Sta.  and he relieved me as Bn medical supply man. He was one of the most gentle persons I had ever met. I often wondered what ever happened to him.  He was one fine individual.  It always made me feel better just to be around him. I'm sorry to hear of his death. My heart goes out to his family.

Cpl. Herman A. Poisson, U.S. M.C., 20 years old, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Wilfred
Poisson, well known Hubbell residents, was killed in action in Korea on October 16, in the performance of his duty and service to his country, according to a telegram
received by his parents Monday afternoon.

Cpl. Poisson enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on July 3, 1951, in Milwaukee. He
received his basic training in San Diego and left in February for Korea. He was born
in Hubbell on June 28, 1932, and attended the local schools. He was made a member,
posthumously, of Copper Ingot Post No. 4624, Veterans of Foreign Wars, of Hubbell.

Besides his parents, he is survived by five sisters and four brothers:

Mrs. Bernadette Genovesi, Mrs. Marie Stevens and Mrs. Dolores Bastian of Hubbell;

are 12 nieces and nephews.  Herman was the fourth son to serve his country.
(I knew Herman as "POISSON" and thought the world of him. He was a damned good Person/Marine and he was mourned by all of his comrades-Troy )
