Stories & Poems About War

Sixty Years Of No Tomorrows…

June 12th of ‘45’…

Marks the date a hero died…

Sixty years of no tomorrows…

But yet today we share the sorrow.

“Kunishi Ridge” had laid him still…

A fine Marine, who’s name was Bill…

He lost his life that fateful day…

For freedom’s sake so far away…

And though the years have come and gone…

His brother Frank has carried on…

He’s honored Bill so many ways…

And will until his final days…

I tip my “hat” to such a man…

We need more like him in this land.

The wind and waves still beat that shore…

Where brave men died to win that war.

And though it’s been some sixty years…

The loss still hurts and causes tears…

So on this day, remember Bill…

Who died for us …up on that “hill”.
