Dear Troy
This was one of the most outstanding reunions in
Marine Corps history. I really enjoyed it very much. Feel

Good luck with your future endeavors.

Reflections by a Former Platoon Leader The Reunion has come and gone, and I have had some time to ponder whether or not it fulfilled its promise. I can't compare it against its predecessors, because I did not attend those. Troy Watson did an amazing job pulling the whole thing together, assisted by by his son Tim, who was on top of every detail and kept kept things rolling on schedule, including occasional adjustments that were necessary from time-to-time. An important contributor was Col. Lilley who arranged and coordinated activities at Quantico and our transportation. Then there was the other young man ( another son of Troys?) who helped Tim with his challenges. Outstanding was the Guest Speaker at the Reunion Banquet. He must have been a super Commanding Officer. I became acquainted with many attendees I never met before. Everyone was pleasant and showed deep interest in what I did after I left the Corps. I finally met Kelly Joyce who has received high praise from my fellow E-2-7 mates Gerry O'Keefe and Jim VanAirsdale. Jim Spurrier and his wife also exchanged pleasantries with me, and I found them to be very nice, friendly people despite the fact that I hadn't seen him in 55 years. To say the least, I felt highly honored to sit at the head table with all of the Reunion dignitaries during the Banquet. That experience was good for my ego which needs a little reinforcement every now-and-then these days. I found myself gravitating toward Don Greenlaw throughout the session because of my association with him in Korea and the fact he voluntarily dedicates so much of his time looking into the welfare of young Marines who have been entangled in a web of questionable accusations and unfair treatment. He as well as you deserve great admiration. Finally, as far as the Reunion is concerned, all I can say is: congratulations on a job well done! MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!! OOHRAH!!! You deserve a standing ovation.

Troy: Thanks again for all your efforts on behalf of E 2 7 and a weekend I will never forget. Julie and husband Steve were so impressed. I do hope it wasn't too hard on you. Sincerely, Charlotte Flores (wife of Capt Rudy Flores - CO of Easy in early - mid 52) ****************************************************************
Troy,
Wow!! What a great
reunion! I enjoyed every minute of it. It was great to
see Clark Minter after 54 years and to see all the
others that were on Vegas and Carson at the same time
as me. You are to be commended for planning such a
great event and we appreciate all that you do to make
our reunion so special!! Looking forward to next year
and I do not intend to miss it. The Cruise (in 09)
sounds like a good idea. It certainly would relieve you
from so much work and I know that all would enjoy it.
Take care of yourself and keep us informed as to your
situation.

Troy,
Thanks for all the work you did to make the
reunion a great success. Mom, dad, and I had a
fantastic time. I appreciate being a part of it.
It was quite a privilege to spend time with such
wonderful people.

Everything you do is great in it's own way
but this was particularly poignant. We loved being
present at the purple heart ceremony for you. In
fact we loved the whole deal. It is an experience
never to be forgotten and your boy Tim sure did take
good care of Everyone. Thanks again, keep getting
better, kiss your wife and we're looking forward to
seeing you next year at that Camp in
California. Yeah for the Watson crew and for
the photographer and slide show girl , too. Bud and
Sharon

AWESOME!.. OUTSTANDING! EXCELLENT!
Not enough adjectives to describe the
events we all participated in. From beginning to
end it was a fun time.
Thanks again for all your efforts on
behalf of our Marines. Give our thanx also to
Tim and Jenny as well.
Charlotte, Dennis along with myself, and
the Boharts, went to Quantico for several more
days to really scope out the Museum. Then off to
Mount Vernon for another quality visit.
Finally glad to see you received your
Purple Heart, mini-medals, etc....long overdue.
Take care now..stay off the skyline and...Semper
Fidelis...Boyce.
My Sincere appreciation to all the above and to the others who allowed me to put this reunion together. All you guys are wonderful - and that is why our 2007 Reunion was such a success.
