I was fireteam leader at the time of the above patrol and Clair Campbell was my B.A.R. man. Lt. Lilley was told to engage the enemy before returning to our own lines. We went back as close to our own line as possible. It was my good luck to assume the point position at this time. Clair and myself got to visit with the north Koreans in their own trenches. A more enjoyable time was winning the Christmas beer ration from the machine gun platoon in a drill competition in 1951 while in reserve. |
