Most Memorable Moment

(1) Being in the Movie "The Sands of Iwo Jima" (1949) with John Wayne; My Company at that time, B-1-6th Marines, was used for the landing scene in the movie.

(2) Recon training of submarine USS Perch (1949) This sub with our entire Marine Company aboard became involved in a collision incident with a Navy Destroyer, the "USS Orleck" while surfacing outside San Diego harbor; during which the sub went down to the bottom of the harbor; fortunately no casualties.
