Unit Operations

3rd Squad, 3rd Platoon, E27 (Squad leader). I would like to thank the MARINES of 3rd Squad: Ogden, Cook, Sitton, Busby, Harvey, Roseland, Simmons, Spaulding, Frinosa (if I have left anyone out I am sorry). You are all HEROES of the highest order.

My father never talked about combat, but did tell me: "You fight for your country, but you REALLY fight for the MARINE in the fox hole with you."

Career After USMC

Master Machinist, worked for engineering firm with exclusive Government Contracts. Finished components that went into Minuteman rockets and the Space Shuttle.

Family Information

Married in 1953, 3 children, 1 boy, 2 younger girls. My dad passed away in his sleep on Dec. 23, 1987 at the age of 58. (Son, Brent Smock)

Hobbies

My dad was a great golfer and bowler. I know, because I caddied for him and watched him bowl in many tournaments.
