From Hobart Wagers:
I remember it was around Aug. of 1952. We were leaving the M. L. R. to go into reserve. At the time I was carrying the B. A. R. and was ordered to go with a Sgt. from Machine Guns, which was going to guard X-ray bridge, which was built like a railroad trestle. We had the BAR, a Heavy .30 CAL. Machine gun and a radioman. We got there and took a much-needed bath in a nice stream of water. We thought it was great, but it started to rain very hard and it did for the next few days. The water got too swift to get into and kept rising up the steep banks until it was level with the bridge. The radioman got word that a bridge upstream washed out and was coming our way. We stood watching the debris coming and thought there would be a big jam. Instead, the debris hit the bridge and took bridge and all - right on down stream. Then they came and took us to another reserve area with a duck because of the mud and high water, until we could get back to E-2-7. It’s ironic that we were guarding a bridge that was taken away right before our eyes. Hobart Wagers

I was also guarding XRAY with Hobart when it got washed away – I also saw
several Chinese bodies floating down the river & I DID NOT like that ride on the
duck)
