I was assigned as a platoon leader in E/2/7 in March 1960, and served in the unit until June 1961. We transplaced to 9th Marines in May and bore the title E/2/7/9 until the end of 1960, when we dropped the "7", and became E/2/9. During our tour on Okinawa, a member of the unit from Korea delivered a flag made for the company there. My cruise book has pictures of it, but I do not know where the flag ended up. I have email addresses of six other officers who served in the unit during that period, and will send the website to them.
I have thoroughly enjoyed spending time at your website. Great work!!
Served from March 1960 until July 1961 as Rifle Platoon commander 3d Platoon, weapons platoon commander, Echo company, 2-7
Spent 25 years with the USAF Security Forces (MSgt ret.) But, there has always been that little piece of me that wishes that I woulda. Work with an "old school ('59-'61), a Desert Storm Vet and a recent discharge from the Corps. Makes me just a little jealous everytime I hear,"Semper Fi, Brother."
Nice site! Got to you thru a link on the Sgt. Grit newsletter, and really perked up when I saw 2/7, for two reasons: First, I've recently finished reading "Jarhead" and seeing the movie. (I must be the only Marine on Grit's mailing list who didn't hate it.) Anyway, 2/7 was the author's battalion. Second, my boy is in 3rd LAR Bn there at Twentynine Palms, at least for awhile. He's been to Iraq (Fallujah) once and is going back in February. I was a 2536 (high-speed radio operator) right out of ITR Pendleton and spent the next two years on Navy bases, at school in Imperial Beach, then 18 months in the Philippines. So I don't mind squids at all. (They have their place, too; it's just not up alongside ours.) Anyhow, a belated happy 230th birthday to everybody.
11/11/05 Thank God for the USMC. I'm a retired Navy Chief. 1971-1998. My oldest son served in the USMC from 93-99 and we still talk to one another. I will raise my glass up to all of you Jarheads tonite and Squids too and the rest of the Armed Forces, for those present and for those who gave the ultimate sacifice. Thanks for keeping our Country FREE..... Semper Fi
Semper Fi Brothers, great site and interesting reading. I was in the Corps 75-79 and I wouldn't trade that for nothing. Keep up the Outstanding job. God Bless America and those who chose to defend her.

I served with the U S AirForce during the Korean war. I did not go into combat but was willing had I been ordered. I thank God for all the Marines, Army, Navy and Air Force men and women who proudly served and are now serving. GOD BLESS AMERICA.
I strongly support and believe in what you are doing. As a Korean war veteran I know we are in a battle we must win to preserve our way of life. I hope you reach every person in the country
