The Corps continues to make their country proud. Much has and continues to be done by US Marines in Iraq and around the world. As seems to be the norm with all major conflicts, the Corps has met the challenge with excellence and professionalism but not without great sacrifice. The stories shared with those acknowleding the importance of your mission, appreciate your committment and it does not go unnoticed. Keep up the good work! I was an aviation ordnanceman, 2nd class, Navy. I served 4 years in between wars, after Korea and before Viet Nam. We lost a few men in those 4 year only due to training accidents. One loss is always too many no matter the circumstances. I would especially like to thank the men and women caught up in all conflicts that fought, died and lived for America and those that now fight in my stead and for the same cause, as I am of an age that forbids me from joining your honorable ranks. May God wrap Himself around each of you as your protective body armor and bring you home safely. Thank you one and all for protecting those of us who cannot protect ourselves. I was senior corpsman with E-2-7 in 1961. No war going on at the time. This was at Camp Las Pulgas-Camp Pendleton. Being a countryboy from Arkansas, the hikes were not bad to me. I used to walk circles around the company, while on a hike, and I would hear things like "Look at that damned corpsman walk." Did two trips to VietNam with both 1st and 3rd MarDivs.

I look forward to reading the member contributions to your history site. There should be more Marine history websites. I have found several Navy amphib ship sites of vessels that transported us marines. I was never in combat but I took advantage of the peacetime and had a lot of fun traveling to "foreign shores". My oldest son surprised me by joining the marines when he was 21. He's 42 now still proud to have served. Read with great interest your 13 day visit to Korea. On 15 June five of us [Korean war vets] will depart LAX for Inchon Intl.Airport. We will spend ten days there, and will probably visit many of the same places as you did. My time in Korea was from April 51 to May 52, in Easy 2/5, and later as the 2/5 operations chief. I spent 30 years and retired as the Div SgtMaj 1stMarDiv, which I feel was a great honor. Semper Fidelis Jess WISE

A site needed to remind the world that FREEDOM is not free. The military has provided this for us. May God always provide a circle of angels to care for all our service people.
